§ Open roles · 2026

Come build it.

Two roles open in 2026. Operations and Platform. Small team, real responsibility, no agency layers.

Entolab is small on purpose, and is intended to stay that way.

The team is close to the floor, opinions are earned rather than borrowed, and we publish what we learn. The work is real, the responsibility is real, and the people you talk to about your work are the ones doing it.

§A / Operations
Open role

Senior Facility Operator.

№ 01 Operations Kirkby-in-Ashfield, UK Full-time, on-site

Run the bench day to day. Own substrate, climate, and harvest for a working T. molitor facility, and help us push our own protocols.

What you'll do

  • Daily husbandry: substrate, climate, harvest, batch records.
  • Co-author and improve protocols with the research team.
  • Train new operators and visiting partners on the floor.
  • Flag yield anomalies early; tighten the feedback loop with Platform.

What we look for

  • Hands-on experience rearing insects or comparable livestock at scale.
  • Comfort with data: you log it, look at it, act on the slope.
  • A bias to write down what you learn so the next operator inherits it.
  • Willingness to be in Kirkby-in-Ashfield most days.
§B / Platform
Open role

Software Engineer, Platform.

№ 02 Platform Remote (UK / EU) Full-time

Build the operating system real facilities run on. Batch tracking, climate logging, yield forecasts, compliance exports. Small team, big surface area.

What you'll do

  • Ship features end to end across the Platform stack.
  • Spend time on the floor so the software fits how facilities actually work.
  • Own the operational quality of what you ship (alerts, logs, on-call rota).
  • Help shape the data and ML work behind anomaly detection and forecasting.

What we look for

  • Production experience building useful software for real operators.
  • Care for the boring parts: schema, observability, slow paths.
  • Comfort working closely with non-engineer users in their environment.
  • EU / UK working hours; occasional travel to the facility.
§C / Process
How we hire

Four steps, two weeks.

01

Intake

You send the form. We read every one within a week and reply either way.

02

Conversation

A 45-minute call to talk through your background and the role honestly.

03

Paid trial or on-site

A short paid project for Platform, a day on the floor for Operations. We pay for your time, either way.

04

Decision and offer

We say yes or no within a week of the trial, with a written reason either way.

§D / Fit
What we look for, what isn't

Be honest with us. We will be honest back.

We value

Field-earned opinions over confident takes.

Writing things down so the next operator inherits what you learned.

Generosity with knowledge. We publish a lot, and we expect you to want that.

A bias to ship the small useful thing rather than the perfect one.

Not for us

Pure consultancy mode without putting your hands on a tray or a tool.

Big-process startups that want to be 200 people in two years.

A preference for hiding work behind a moat.

"Move fast and break things" applied to live animals or to operators' trust.

Your turn
